Flexibility, reliability, and data integrity are essential in R&D environments. To meet these needs, a global leader in yeast and yeast extract production entrusted B2C Engineering with the complete revamping of two fermentation skids — one in France, the other in the USA.
Previously managed by an aging Foxboro system, the skids were migrated to a modern, standardized, and maintainable platform. B2C redefined the functional analysis, developed the automation in TIA Portal, and implemented a supervision system using WinCC Classic and WebUX.
The deployment was phased to minimize disruption, starting with a single fermenter. The new setup now features Siemens S7-1518 CPUs, improved communication architecture, and direct integration with the client’s M.E.S. for recipe and profile management.
The result: a unified, user-friendly, and robust control system across two sites — fully aligned with modern industrial standards.
