AVEVA Hackathon: feedback from the field with Valfrance

01/27/2026

From January 21 to 22, 2025, our teams took part in the AVEVA CONNECT Hackathon – Industrial Data & AI, held in Paris and organized by Factory Software – AVEVA Select France.

For 48 hours, integrators and industrial players worked in pairs with a clear objective:
transform raw industrial data into concrete, usable applications, within a deliberately constrained technical environment.

A Hackathon Dedicated to Industrial Data and AI

The AVEVA CONNECT Hackathon brought together 14 integrator–industrial teams around a shared framework:

  • a blank AVEVA CONNECT environment, with no preconfigured data

  • industrial data provided by the teams themselves

  • limited time to design, develop and demonstrate functional applications

The goal was not theoretical demonstration, but measurable industrial value, leveraging AVEVA technologies for industrial data management, analysis and visualization.

A Collaborative, Results-Driven Format

The challenge imposed several strong constraints:

  • rapidly structuring heterogeneous industrial data

  • leveraging AVEVA CONNECT components to analyze and visualize information

  • delivering applications directly usable in an industrial context

This format closely reflects real-world industrial conditions, where time pressure, data quality and operational constraints are decisive factors.

Our Role as an Integrator: Connecting Technology and Operational Reality

Our two AVEVA technical leaders took part in the challenge in an integrator–industrial pairing with Valfrance agricultural cooperative, bridging AVEVA technologies with Valfrance’s operational constraints.

Our added value was expressed on several levels:

  • translating business needs into concrete technical scenarios

  • providing a methodological framework to structure discussions

  • bringing a long-term vision for solution industrialization

Use Cases Addressed During the Hackathon

The applications developed focused on operational industrial challenges:

  • Production monitoring: tracking and visualizing key performance indicators

  • Energy monitoring: analyzing consumption and identifying trends

  • Hypervision: a global, contextualized view of industrial data

  • Anomaly detection and analysis: identifying deviations and first-level advanced analytics

Each use case was designed for immediate applicability, with no purely demonstrative approach.

Results Achieved

At the end of the 48 hours, our team ranked Top 5 out of 14 participating teams.

This result highlights our ability to:

  • rapidly structure industrial data

  • master the AVEVA CONNECT ecosystem

  • deliver functional applications under constrained conditions

Why This Type of Event Matters for Industrial Players

The AVEVA CONNECT Hackathon clearly illustrates several industrial realities:

  • industrial data is a key performance lever, provided it is properly structured and contextualized

  • platforms such as AVEVA CONNECT accelerate the transformation of data into operational decisions

  • close collaboration between integrator and industrial partner is a critical success factor

Beyond competition, this format acts as a laboratory for industrial innovation, focused on real use cases and tangible outcomes.

Key Takeaways

This hackathon highlighted the importance of collaboration between industrial players, integrators and software vendors.

We would like to thank Valfrance and AVEVA for the quality of the exchanges and the trust shown throughout this exercise.

The insights gained open the door to concrete projects, firmly rooted in industrial reality and aligned with performance and traceability objectives.
